Synopsis

Cancer is a group of diseases influenced by substantial involvement of both genetic as well as epigenetic factors. It includes sequential steps starting from initiation, proliferation, promotion, progression and metastasis. Apart from compromising quality of life due to different organs malfunctioning, cancer also result's in increase patients death. Tumor cells after attaining a small growth of around 2mm do require a vascular supply to adequately address its nutritional need and proliferation. These molecules do regulate several cellular pathways involving, cell structural reorganization, cellular motility, evasion from host immunity, cross talks with the neighboring environment. This study was designed to explore germline mutations of these molecules(tumor and metastasis suppressor genes)in breast cancer patients.

Muhammad Faraz Arshad Malik completed his PhD in the area of cancer genetics and genomics from CIIT,Pakistan. Mahmood Akhtar Kayani completed his PhD from Uni. of Wales, Swansea (United Kingdom) in Genetic Toxicoloy and Cancer Genetics. Their research interests are in the field of genetics,cancer biology and stem cell therapeutics.
