Coauthored with Matera ( Are You Lonesome Tonight? ), the book presents a dozen highly varied cases to illustrate Rubin's versatility: sensational murder cases, including the first televised trial in 1977, in which he defended an alleged teenage killer on the basis of his "TV intoxication"; the custody fight over a sheik's four children; a bitter court battle to end the home TV blackout of National Football League games. Rubin, jailed several times for his judicial principles, is sharply critical of opportunistic colleagues and suggests a number of reforms of a legal system he surprisingly claims favors the criminal.
