When the Johnson family gathers for a family reunion to celebrate the birthday of Uncle Wesley, the family’s patriarch, it becomes a day filled with fun and games, favorite foods, a little arguing, and lots of dancing. Readers will leave this picture book feeling like they just spent the day with a family they will want to visit again and again and again.
Christine Taylor Butler is the author of more than 80 books and short stories for children. A graduate of MIT, she holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Art and Design. The mother of two, she lives in Kansas City with her husband, Ken, a tank of fish, and a cat who thinks she is both servant and head of the pride.
Atlanta-based illustrator Lonnie Ollivierre was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines where he lived with his father and two sisters. He first experienced the world of art via his father, who was a sign painter. As a child, he relocated to Brooklyn where he taught himself to paint from comic books he collected. As he grew up he dreamed of becoming a cartoonist, and later a painter after studying Norman Rockwell. He paints the things that he sees in his everyday life, with his family and friends being the source of his work through which he hopes to inspire, educate, and uplift others.
