Gifted Parent Groups: The SENG Model
Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted
Parents of gifted children face many strange and disturbingly unfamiliar issues because their children are different from seemingly "average" children.
But when they talk with other parents who are dealing with similar situations, they can find comfort, reassurance, and alternative ways of handling particular problems.
This book describes how parents, counselors, and teachers can form a guided support group using the well-established SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of Gifted) model in order to better understand and help their gifted children.
Dr. Webb, a clinical psychologist, is a frequent gifted education consultant and conference speaker. In 1981, he founded the SENG program. Arlene DeVries serves on The Board of Directors of the National Association for Gifted children. She has conducted SENG parent support groups in the Des Moines, IA, Public Schools for over 15 years.
