The Girl Who Invented Dusty Springfield: The Story of Mary O'Brien (Paperback or Softback)

In 1960s Britain one girl pop singer towered over the rest.

That girl was Dusty Springfield. Many biographies have been written about Dusty and her career as a singing star. But Dusty was an enigma, little is known about her before she was famous. This book seeks to show who Dusty was and where she came from.

‘It was great to be reminded of all the times we spent with Dusty. It is only by reading all your facts that I realise just how much we achieved. Very little has been documented on the very early start of how plain Miss Mary O'Brien became Dusty. I am very proud to say that The Lana Sisters played a vital role in that.’: (Lynne Essex - the Lana Sisters)

In this book there are fascinating insights into Dusty’s early life. It explores the people, places, experiences and events that influenced her as she was growing up. Filled with previously unseen material it illustrates how she developed into the person she became, from her birth right up to the day her solo career began.

An added section traces Dusty's genealogy. For the first time details of her parents, grandparents and great grandparents, who they were and how they lived, are revealed.

If you have ever wondered about the girl behind the star, this book will answer your questions.
