Glass Slipper

A shift is happening-one where men are increasingly becoming trailing partners, supporting the career paths of their wives. At this writing, this shift feels under the radar, and perhaps that's where some men would like it to stay.

I couldn't deny it. I was living it, resisting every step of the way. If there had been a roadmap, a guide to navigating this role reversal, perhaps I wouldn't have fought it so much. But there wasn't. No clear blueprint existed for how to succeed as a male trailing partner-a leader who follows.

This book, Glass Slipper, provides that missing guide, offering insights into the experiences of men like me who had to step into this nontraditional role. By sharing our stories, we're rewriting the script for men who find themselves in a new kind of partnership-one where success isn't about being the sole breadwinner but about supporting, adapting, and redefining what it means to lead.

After succeeding in corporate America and supporting my family, I faced a career setback when my company closed amid industry-wide layoffs in Louisiana. My wife's promotion led us to Oklahoma, where I hoped to restart my career, but found the downturn was nationwide. As I adapted to being "Mr. Dad" and pursuing my MBA, my wife's job took her to St. Louis frequently, leaving me to raise our two sons alone. I fully embraced this role, actively participating in their activities and managing the household. Now, as we face potential further relocations, I've learned to shift roles fluidly, embracing each change not just to survive, but to thrive.
