Glimpses of the Ages: Or, the "Superior" and "Inferior" Races, So-Called, Discussed in the Light of Science and History

This book, first published in 1881, is a collection of lectures on race and culture delivered by the author, a British physician and anthropologist. Scholes argues that differences among races are primarily due to environmental factors, rather than inherent biological traits, and that all races have the potential for equal cultural achievement. Although some of the scientific theories presented in the book are now outdated, it remains an interesting example of Victorian-era thinking about society and culture.
