Biography of the chief of the Shoshones for more than 60 years. Never was there a Native American more revered for fighting his battles so successfully and for giving his life so fully to peace, goodwill and brotherhood, than was Chief Washakie of the Shoshones, who lived 1798-1900.
About the Author: Mary H. Tillman was born in Virginia and educated in North Carolina. As a young adult she moved to Wyoming and married Ralph H. Tillman, the great-great grandson of the great chief, Washakie. Her interest in and study of the Chief and his people led her to write the story of Washakie, in collaboration with her husband.
