Go Preach

This book offers practical tips for persons who are called on to preach occasionally but who are not formally trained as pastors. Gilbert includes just enough theory to support the practice. A bibliography provides specific suggestions for readers wishing to explore preaching in more detail. Primary users of this resource: lay speakers using the Lay Speakers Preach Advanced Course; local church pastors; student pastors who have not had formal preaching training; preachers seeking a basic refresher; others who are called upon to preach in their pastor's absence.

A native of Minnesota, Jack Gilbert currently co-pastors Estill Springs United Methodist Church, Estill Springs, Tennessee, with his wife, Nan Zoller. In 1996 Jack retired from The United Methodist Publishing House where he was on the staff of the adult curriculum unit for 28 years. He has taught Christian education courses in numerous colleges and seminaries. Together and individually Jack and Nan have written extensively for various United Methodist publications, including several editions of the Lay Speaking Basic Course.
