The God Complex: Inside the UK’s Most Manipulative and Murderous Cult Leaders
By Winona Ryan
They were worshipped as visionaries, prophets, and saviours. In reality, they were predators cloaked in divinity.
The God Complex is the most explosive investigation ever written on real cults that thrived across the United Kingdom and Ireland. From England’s rural communes to Belfast’s backstreets and the Welsh underworld, this book exposes the chilling truth about how modern-day cult leaders manipulated their way into power—and left shattered lives in their wake.
Based entirely on documented evidence, verified testimonies, and true accounts, this gripping exposé uncovers:
The hidden world of the Kidwelly sex cult and its shocking abuse
The manipulative empire of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God
Scotland’s darkest spiritual movements and their violent teachings
The rise of the Order of Nine Angles and its ties to extremism
Ireland’s House of Prayer and the blurred line between faith and fanaticism
Every chapter delves into the psychological control, spiritual warfare, and mind-breaking obedience demanded by these leaders who saw themselves as gods. This is not fiction. This is reality. These cults operated in plain sight—and many still do.
Perfect for readers of true crime, cult psychology, and dark religious history, The God Complex dares to shine light where few have dared before.
Enter the hidden world of control. Learn how faith was weaponised. Witness the rise and fall of the United Kingdom’s most dangerous leaders.
