Phil Vassar, a leading Nashville songwriter and performer, was reading a newspaper and thinking about what a messed-up world we had. He started writing down what God might say to us. "I'm disappointed in what I'm seeing . . . I've seen you hurt yourselves enough . . . I've been waiting for a change in you . . . All I'm asking for is love."

Vassar's CD, American Child, had been released in July 2002 to critical and commercial acclaim. But when Arista, his record label, heard "This is God", it made the extraordinary decision of recalling all copies of American Child and re-releasing it with the addition of a new track: "This is God".

The book This Is God is a gentle reminder, in bold graphics, of some of the things God wants people to do and be and remember. It is a great gift for parents to give their children at graduation or any time of the year.
