God's Calling: A Missionary Autobiography (Classic Reprint)

This book is a deeply personal and moving account of one man’s journey to becoming a missionary. The author shares his childhood memories, his experiences in rural Georgia, and his gradual realization of his calling. The story unfolds against the backdrop of a changing America, marked by the Great Depression and the Second World War. We see the author’s early life shaped by his upbringing in a conservative Southern Baptist family and his own growing faith. His personal struggles and inner conflicts, especially his initial resistance to the call to ministry, add a compelling dimension to the narrative. The author also explores the complexities of the racial landscape in the South during this period, acknowledging his own development of a more liberal view than that of his family and community. Ultimately, the book offers a powerful testament to the power of faith and the transformative impact of a life dedicated to serving others.
