Going Back to Key West

When everything falls apart, sometimes the only way forward is to return to where you’ve always belonged.

After her marriage collapses and a sudden tragedy leaves her drowning in guilt, grief, and unanswered questions, Kara Holmes feels her hope slipping away. During a chance encounter with Jimmy Buffett, his words give her the courage to start over in the only place she’s ever felt safe—her great-grandparents’ house in Key West.

Believing the worst is behind her, Kara begins to rebuild her life in a community ready to embrace her, no questions asked. But old drama and unfinished pain follow her to the island. A hurricane looms on the horizon, threatening both her home and her newfound community, forcing Kara to confront the chaos around her and the turmoil within.

Can she finally let go of the ghosts of her past and forgive herself?

Going Back to Key West is a powerful story of second chances, the bonds of true community, and the belief that sometimes, the places that feel most like home have been waiting all along to help us find ourselves again. The first book in the Kara Holmes series invites readers into a tender, emotional journey of rediscovery—with some legendary Key West fun thrown in—where heartbreak gives way to healing, and the island itself becomes a living metaphor for new beginnings.
