Grade 8-12-- A thorough explanation of the geologic formation of metals and of their chemical and physical properties. Plate tectonics is treated at length. How and why metals are important today as well as in the past and the need for conservation are considered. Also discussed are prospecting and manufacturing. Although an attempt has been made to explain complex processes simply, this is not a simple book. Many technical terms are used which are defined in context but not always in the glossary.
