This is the book where Bemelmans' Madeleine first appeared. Orange cloth boards with blind-stamped swan on front and black printing on spine. Very light diffuse surface soil toward edges. Interior clean, lightly toned, binding tight. DJ has edge wear but is intact. Inscribed (dated 1937) to Jerry Helck, son of the famed automotive artist, Peter Helck, from Paul Struck whose bookstore sticker is at the top corner of the front inside paste down.
