Scottish printings of these Puritan classics, 1810-1811; first published in 1675. Little is known of Brooks' life but what can be gleaned from his copious writings; born in 1608 and educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, by 1648, he was preaching at St. Thomas Apostle's in London, becoming of enough note to preach to the House of Commons in that year; within four years he had moved to St. Margaret's, where this book notes his tenure. Two volumes bound in one. Recent full cloth, black leather spine label. Light wear; pages tanned with some foxing, light staining, chips. Text clean; xxiv, [25] to 430 pages; blank leaf; xxxv, [36] to 448 pages. Size: Small Octavo.
