The Golden Tablet

Planet Arun's saga extends beyond stars, unveiling the home of all life. On three worlds, civilizations face fatal worries. One ancient planet's dying sun. One ravaged by nuclear fire. One threatened by the very intelligence humanity created.

On planet Arun, Radan Grandee Farir has done what no leader before him dared: surrendered absolute power voluntarily, retreating to a forest sanctuary to pursue the rarest of human achievements: the fully awakened consciousness-self, an inner clarity that lets him perceive what others cannot. He expects to spend his life in quiet contemplation. The universe has other plans.

Radan's successor, the talented Arbelle uncovers a conspiracy that reaches into the heart of government: trusted officials are revealed to be sophisticated androids, designed by a bitter and brilliant outcast named Tasemren, powered by an artificial intelligence that was forbidden for good reason. As the incorruptible Tirkos races to locate the stolen AI before it fully awakens, Arbelle realizes there is one mind in the galaxy equal to the crisis-the man who walked away from power.

Across the light-years, ancient Paradise-a civilization seven hundred million years old and the origin of all life-is quietly dying. Its sun is failing, and its great colony spaceships carry the weight of an entire species' future. When Commander Coltan receives a distress signal already seven years old, he learns that the colony ship Gatarna and its seven thousand souls are already gone. Now the sister ship Cadmus is drifting toward a world that will not welcome it.

That world is Earth. Scorched by nuclear fire, its survivors have found shelter in the walls of a medieval castle, learning once more how to coax food from raw ground. When something alien appears in the sky above them, Aurora and her fragile community ponder: threat or deliverance?

Three planets. Three civilizations on the edge of disaster. And one question that binds them all-if humanity is the one thing that cannot be manufactured or stolen, why does everything depend on protecting it?

Risto has lived a hectic working life as a trial lawyer, during which he has learnt a lot about human nature. After retirement, he has made a change into a science fiction writer. He is most interested in realistic world-building (rather than fantasy writing), as if everything might actually happen, and in writing across genres.
