About this Item
217p. illustrated cloth. Includes a chapter by Rhona K. Adair. Illustrations from photographs and drawings including frontispiece portrait of the author. (8vo) original pictorial green cloth stamped in white, gray, gilt and brown, front cover lettered in white, spine lettered in gilt. First Edition. The first instruction book for women published in America. The game of golf presented to the "feminine inquiring mind and from a woman's viewpoint". The pictures of early lady champions illustrate that the woman golfer of the day was probably more handicapped by her dress than by her lack of golfing ability. Mrs Hecker was the two time USGA ladies Amateur Champion in 1901 and 1902. Pencil notes throughout from Percy Boomer. Part of the Percy Boomer golf library. D&J H12160. Good, some fraying to top/bottom of spine, otherwise good contents. Seller Inventory # 9953
