No Good Deed

Editorial Review: Winner of 2011 Red Adept Reviews Indie Awards for Thriller/Suspense5 Stars "The plot to the novel was not only unique, but it was wonderfully executed. Mark Taylor was a deep, complex character. He was a good hero, but had enough flaws to be completely believable." ~Red Adept Reviews

Mark Taylor discovers first hand that no good deed goes unpunished when the old camera he found in a dusty Afghanistan gives him more than great photos. It triggers dreams of disasters--tragedies that happen exactly as he envisions them. Back home in Chicago, he learns that not only can he see the future, but he can change it. The quintessential reluctant hero, he begins risking his life to help others, but when the unthinkable happens and his attempts to prevent 9/11 bring him to the attention of the Feds. The name they have for Taylor isn't urban hero. It's enemy combatant. Thrown in the brig, Mark discovers that being held as an enemy combatant means they can do anything they want to him. Anything at all.

I have always loved a good guy reluctant hero in books, movies, and television. Add a supernatural twist where the hero can see into the future or the past and change it, and I'm hooked! None of it would work for me if there wasn't plenty of action and adventure woven into a suspenseful thriller. With this series, I took all the elements of a story I longed to read, combined with a character I wanted to come alive and meet, and wrote The Mark Taylor Series.
In No Good Deed, I had read in the news about an actual American held as an enemy combatant--think Guantanamo Bay, aka, Gitmo. I didn't feel sorry for the guy because, hey, he got what he deserved, right? But wait! How horrible would it be if you were completely innocent of the charges, but had no way to tell anyone or prove your innocence?

I hope you'll enjoy reading No Good Deed as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
