Add to basketModern Library #2. "First Modern Library Edition 1934" stated on the copyright page. The pictorial dustjacket dates from Spring, 1934 and is first issue, with "225 Outstanding Books." on the verso, the correct pairing (per Toledano). The blue flexible covers are binding type 7, with orange Kent endpapers. The book is in very good plus condition. The interior is pristine. The covers are clean and the corners are sharp. The spine is mildly faded, but the gold stamping is still strong. There is some separation at the upper spine end of the textblock from the back strip (completely closed at the bottom end). The jacket is very good plus as well. There is light wear to the spine tips and corners (small chips, short closed tears) and there is some tanning to the beige part of the spine (and, to a lesser extent, at the folds). There is a 2" long tear at the lower part of the spine, where the spine meets the front panel, some of it closed but still a little daylight showing through (the most serious flaw). Otherwise, the jacket is near fine or better - a little toned, but bright and unfaded, uncreased and not price-clipped ("95 cents a copy"). The rear panel of the jacket is style "e".
