About the Author: Jagdish Chand Ajmani was born in Shimla and educated at St. Stephen's College, Delhi and Brasenose College, Oxford. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1952. During a career that spanned thirty-six years, he served as Ambassador to Germany, Italy, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay and as High Commissioner to Australia. He is also the former dean of the Foreign Service (Training) Institute. Since 1994, he has been working as an advisor to the Child Education Society, Delhi, the apex body of nineteen educational institutions with a student enrolment of over 27,000.His interest in advancement of education stems from a long and close association with Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools.As an education, he has made attempts to improve the Indian education system, believing believes that a poor foundation in the English language and lack of grasp of the basic concepts in science and math lie at the root of the ailing education system.
