The author's tenth non-fiction contribution from war - torn Spain. In this piece, he compares and contrasts the loyalist and rebel generals. From the heading, "Rebel generals, not cowardly but academic in keeping far from front lines, have missed many a bet from Franco, and some of the best have died. Republican generals are taught war in the field, where they live and learn. They, too, have missed some big bets but it's too soon to tell why." See Hanneman C304.
