About this title

Synopsis

" Good Night Zen " is the second book in a series of social stories created to help children prepare for potentially challenging real-life situations.

This social story is a visual guide to assist with a bedtime routine that encourages hygiene care, independence, and relaxation for a smoother bedtime, especially for children with various sensory needs.

Just as with adults, anxiety in children can be greatly reduced when they know what to expect. A step-by-step visual story can help your child prepare for new or challenging social situations, such as public events, gatherings, and daily routines by helping them visualize and even “act things out” beforehand. A visual story is often a lot more effective than dialogue, when language and communication skills are still developing.

These stories were inspired by the author’s own experience in raising a neurodiverse child, after seeing how effective social stories can be in reducing stress, anxiety, and meltdowns caused by unfamiliar or highly-stimulating situations. She hopes that these books can become useful tools in your home as well.
