For many, the game of golf is more than a mere weekend pastime. It is a discipline that challenges the mind, body, and spirit. Author Paul Zingg, a long-time devotee of the game, elevated his understanding and appreciation of golf to new heights when he embarked on an extraordinary odyssey.
"A Good Round: A Journey through the Landscapes and Memory of Golf" is the eloquent chronicle of a journey that took him to the Esalen retreat on the California coast; on a pilgrimage to the great courses of Scotland; and, like all good tales of self-discovery, back home to Pennsylvania's Merion Golf Club. It was a trip that challenged the author intellectually and physically and he came to savor every nuance of the complex and demanding game. As he immerses himself body and soul in the endeavor that allowed him to achieve harmony with nature and attain a new level of spiritual awareness, he vividly describes each course with the enthusiasm of a true sportsman and the discerning eye of an accomplished historian.
