Biography
Candace (Candy) Campbell, DNP, RN, CNL,FNAP, was born in Portland, Oregon, and lives in the San Francisco area. Dr. Campbell is an award-winning film maker (Micropremature Babies: How Low Can You Go?), actress (The Calling), educator, and author. Besides a series of children's books (sidebar), her projects include three solo shows ("Whatever Happened To My Paradigm," "Full Frontal Nursing: A Comedy With Dark Spots," and " Florence Nightingale Live!"), a film script about a military nurse who unwillingly serves in Vietnam ("Walking Point"), and the book that answers 21st c. questions from that Victorian icon's point of view, "Channeling Florence Nightingale:Integrity, Insight, Innovation."
Ms. Campbell's work with the March of Dimes includes public speaking on their behalf, as well as sharing profits of her film and children's books. She sits on the AWHONN Editorial Board of Advisors and writes for their Healthy Mom & Baby magazine (Health4Mom.org).
Candy has been featured on national media on a wide range of topics surrounding prematurity (listen to podcasts at:candythenurse.com), nursing leadership, and healthcare policy.
Dr. Campbell's interactive Improv to Improve Team Building : Tear Down Walls and Build Bridges workshops guarantee enhanced interprofessional communication and collaboration, with the use of applied improvisational exercises from the theatrical tradition.
