Grace Darling, Her True Story (1880)

Grace Darling, Her True Story is a biography written by Daniel H. Atkinson and published in 1880. The book tells the story of Grace Darling, a young woman who became a national hero in England in 1838. Grace lived with her family in a lighthouse on the Farne Islands, off the coast of Northumberland. One stormy night, a ship called the Forfarshire ran aground on the rocks near the lighthouse. The story of Grace's bravery quickly spread, and she became a symbol of courage and selflessness. The book provides a detailed account of Grace's life, including her childhood, her family, and her legacy. It also explores the cultural and historical context of her story, including the role of women in Victorian society and the development of the British coastguard. Overall, Grace Darling, Her True Story is a fascinating and inspiring account of a remarkable woman who risked her life to save others. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
