About this Item

nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Grammar Nazis Are Not Always Rite, Right, Write is based on a fiction writing course I taught at a small university that repudiates, in both humorous and serious ways, what is considered by most writers to be proper and necessary for writing fiction. It is not a HOW-TO book. It is a book intended to help you find your own creative path, get rid of your fear over writing, and answer many questions that seem to haunt both novice and established writers. It covers grammar, punctuation, show don't tell, write what you know, and many other topics that in my opinion are unnecessary when writing fiction. It also explores many aspects of the modern writing business (both traditional and self-publishing). You may wonder why I have the expertise to have written this book. I have been writing for 45 years and to date 16 of my novels have been published by traditional presses. I have also Indied 9 novels. I have placed poems and short stories with literary presses and written for outdoor magazines and newspapers. My novels have received excellent reviews from Publishers Weekly, Best Sellers and Midwest Book Review. Several of my novels were optioned and many of my students have become published authors. A fun, informative, quick read that will open your eyes to different possibilities.

About this title

Synopsis

Grammar Nazis Are Not Always Rite, Right, Write is based on a creative writing course I taught at a small university in the 1980’s. Because the course repudiated the majority of what the other English and Creative Writing Professors held as gospel truth they were constantly annoyed with me as to what they considered my disregard for the rules of English, Grammar, and the art of writing fiction. This is not always true but it is my belief that when it comes to writing fiction many of the grammar and punctuation rules can and should be ignored. Also, written in stone statements like, write what you know, never end a sentence with a preposition, and many more, are more times than not pure hogwash. The Professors were also grudgingly jealous of me because none of them had been published and at the time eight of my novels were published and well received. To my enjoyment the students thoroughly enjoyed the course and its philosophies. I tried my best to encourage each student to follow their own muse and not fall into the world of what ever one else decides or professes to be correct. Many of my students are now published by reputable presses. The rest have done what most people do who give up on a writing career – they either became alcoholics, some form of illegal substance addict, or teachers, a small percentage became alcohol and drug addicted teachers.
