This delightful collection of traditional recipes features such favorites as Apple Pie, Velvet Mocha Cream Pie, Whole Wheat Bread, Brandy Snaps, Blueberry Muffins, Date Nut Bread, Nut Lace Cookies, and many all-American treats.

This collection offers some 200 recipes for baked goods both sweet and savory, with more than 800 color photographs. There are full-page pictures of many of the cookies, breads, pies, cakes, and tortes, and every recipe has at least two technique photos. A few choices, such as Sachertorte or Treacle Tart, seem somewhat out of place in an all-American baking book. It's also a bit surprising that strawberry shortcake does not merit a recipe of its own, but the step-by-step photographs alone are worth the price. For most baking collections.
