Great Experiments in Psychology (Paperback or Softback)

"Great Experiments in Psychology" provides a comprehensive examination of the foundational studies that transformed psychology from a branch of philosophy into a rigorous empirical science. Edited by Henry E. Garrett, this work explores the landmark investigations that defined the early 20th century's understanding of human behavior and mental processes.

The text delves into pivotal experiments across various domains, including learning theory, sensory perception, memory, and intelligence testing. By detailing the work of influential figures such as Pavlov, Thorndike, Ebbinghaus, and Binet, the book illustrates the evolution of experimental design and the application of the scientific method to the study of the mind. Readers are guided through the original hypotheses, methodologies, and significant findings that established the core principles of the discipline.

As an essential resource for students and historians of science, "Great Experiments in Psychology" captures the intellectual spirit of an era characterized by rapid discovery and methodological innovation. It serves as an invaluable record of the breakthroughs that continue to inform contemporary psychological thought and research practices.
