Reed Willard is a writer, actor, and performer who lives with his wife and young daughter, Melly.
Although he has lived in almost a dozen cities around the world, Reed is proud to call Virginia home.  He was born and raised in Charlottesville, VA, before heading over the mountain to Harrisonburg where he attended James Madison University.
After graduating in 2006 with a degree in Communication Studies, Reed packed up and moved out west as an aspiring actor.  After a few years of grinding and hustling, Reed began experiencing modest success in small TV roles and commercials, as well as leading roles in professional theatre productions.  He also began writing, both as a creative travel blogger and as a playwright.
In 2015, Reed put acting and writing on hold to pursue a lifelong dream of thru-hiking the entire Appalachian Trail (Georgia to Maine, 2,189 miles).  He set off on April 7, 2015, and completed the epic journey five and a half months later.  After that, he continued traveling, working jobs on sailing boats and luxury cruise ships in Hawaii and Alaska respectively, before settling in Chicago to resume his acting career.
After a year and a half of performing in regional theatres throughout Chicago, Reed landed a role in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan in 2018.  He lived and performed in Osaka, Japan, for a year, before switching gears and becoming the main villain, Deacon, in the Waterworld stunt show at Universal Studios Singapore.
Since then, Reed has switched gears yet again and started working full-time as a freelance writer and editor.  Greater Than a Tourist - Charlottesville marks Reed's first published book - the first of many, he promises.  And he can't wait to return to his hometown, wife and child in tow, to show them all of the wonderful things that Charlottesville has to offer.
