London, 1853. "A New Edition, carefully revised". 15 years after the first, this new edition includes many more engravings and, for the first time, Scharf's history of Greek art. Thick quarto in full calf, tooled front board, and beveled edges, 6-panel spine, raised bands. Condition is good minus, light scuffing to edges of boards and spines with several surficial scrapes to both boards. The rear bottom corner is waterstained, affecting the bottom corner of the last 20 pages and 4 plates - not affecting text or illustrations. Minor narrow stain at bottom inside front corner, and title pages. In the Victorian travel book genre, an elaborate plate book with "views" of Greek landscapes and ruins, engraved (uncolored) on wood and steel, Illustrative of the Scenery, by Coply Fielding, F. Creswick, D. Cox, Jun., Harvey, Paul Huet, Meissonier, Sargent, Daubigny, Jaques, and Other Artists.
