Recognized Minority and Regional Languages:
Greece is relatively linguistically homogeneous, but there are a few minority and regional languages, though they are not officially recognized in the same way as in some other European countries:
1. Macedonian (Slavic dialects)
- Spoken by a small number of people in northern Greece, especially near the border with North Macedonia.
- Often referred to as “Slavomacedonian” in Greece, but politically sensitive.
2. Turkish
- Spoken by the Muslim minority in Western Thrace, who are officially recognized under the Treaty of Lausanne (1923).
- The community includes ethnic Turks, Pomaks, and Roma.
- Arvanitika: A dialect of Albanian spoken by the Arvanites, an ethnic group mainly in central and southern Greece. It is declining, especially among younger generations.
- Tosk Albanian: Spoken by more recent Albanian immigrants.
- Spoken by the Romani (Roma) communities scattered throughout the country.
- Often bilingual with Greek.
- A Romance language spoken by the Vlach people, mainly in northern Greece and the Pindus mountains.
- Related to Romanian but distinct.
- Dialects historically spoken by Greeks from Asia Minor and the Black Sea region.
- Still spoken in some communities, especially among descendants of refugees from the population exchange with Turkey in the 1920s.
- English, French, and German are widely studied as foreign languages in schools.
- English is particularly common in tourism, business, and among younger Greeks.
- Due to immigration, languages such as Russian, Bulgarian, Georgian, and Arabic are also spoken in some communities.

In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. Returns Policy
We ask all customers to contact us for authorisation should they wish to return their order. Orders returned without authorisation may not be credited.
If you wish to return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to obtain authorisation.
Returns requested beyond this time will not be authorised.
