Green Computing Device - Disposal Behaviour Among Students

Green computing is the environmentally responsible and eco-friendly use of computers and their resources. Green IT focuses on the design of environmental sustainability, energy-efficient computing, power management, data centre design layout & location, server virtualization, responsible disposal and recycling, regulatory compliance, green metrics assessment tools & methodology, environment-related risk mitigation, use of renewable energy sources, and eco-labelling of IT products. The environmentally sound practices such as reducing energy consumption by PCs, enabling power management features, turning off the system when not in use, using screensavers, using thin-client computers, greening data centres, energy conservation, eco-friendly design, and virtualization. EPEAT, Energy Star, RoHS Directive are the Green IT standards and regulations. Three R's for greening unwanted computers, are Reuse, Refurbish and Recycle. Improper usage of computers leads to the generation of Greenhouse gases. The Greenhouse gases is the reason for Global warming. Global warming results in cyclones, extreme weather conditions, increase in Ocean level, Drought, extreme weather Conditions, cyclones, etc. Green Computing focus on several areas, such as, power management, data centre design, use of biodegradable materials, green metrics & green labelling, carbon footprint assessment, environment related risk mitigation and compliance of regulations.
