Nanotechnology can serve as an innovative and effective tool for addressing the rising pressure on the food sector for meeting the human need of food security. In this new book, Green Nanoparticles: Valuable Tools for Food Sector, various aspects associated with the food sector are explored, presenting nanomaterials, especially green nanoparticles, as strategic tools for optimizing the food sector potential in fulfilling human nourishment needs.
The volume addresses themes such as smart packaging; how green antimicrobial nanoparticles are revolutionizing food safety and packaging; and green nanoparticles as nanofertilizers, nanoinsecticides, nanonematicides, and nanoherbicides. It also discusses the use of green nanoparticles for the management of plant stresses, their use as nanoremediators for water and soil pollution, their use in sensors to detect pollutants, the cytotoxicity aspects associated with these nanoscale structures, and much more. The book has chapters dedicated to the use of green nanoparticles for the treatment as well as management of animal disease.
Featuring authors from around the world, the book adopts a multidisciplinary point of view to present comprehensive and up-to-date information. The book will be of special use to graduate students, faculty members, and researchers in the field of food sciences, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and green chemistry.

She specializes in biotechnology/molecular biology and has been studying nanomaterials applications such as delivery and remediation as same as green synthesis protocols, and allelopathic potential of secondary metabolites from plants. These research projects resulted in 10 patent applications, three of them already analyzed and granted. She has published nine books and authored 15 scientific articles and more than 40 book chapters with international publishers. Dr. Tonelli has also dedicated herself to the promotion of science and technology through co-funding a nongovernmental organization. Her efforts as a researcher have been recognized with various awards, including For Women in Science Brazil (awarded by LOreal Brasil, UNESCO in Brazil, and Brazilian Academy of Sciences) and Under 30 Brazil (Forbes).
H. C. Ananda Murthy, PhD, is currently working as Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in the Department of Applied Sciences, Papua New Guinea University of Technology, Papua New Guinea. He is also serving as the Adjunct Professor at Saveetha University, India. He has published more than 195 research/review articles in reputed international journals. He has authored 12 books, 24 book chapters and six compendia. He has a total of six patents to his credit.
