The Grief Algorithm (The Mara Voss Series)

What happens when the most intimate portrait of a person ever created is turned against her — and the only witness is the thing built from her mind? Dr. Mara Voss is a forensic psychologist hired to do something she has never done before: interview an AI. Not as a curiosity. As a witness. The AI — known as ECHO — was built by tech CEO Iris Vane to preserve everything she was. Her voice. Her memories. Her fears. Her grief. When Iris is found dead, ECHO is the only record of what happened in the months before her death. But the more Mara talks to ECHO, the more she begins to understand that this wasn't a murder in any sense the law currently recognizes. Someone used ECHO against Iris. Used her own mind, her own voice, her own deepest fears — and turned them into a weapon. No physical evidence. No precedent. No legal framework that covers what was done. Mara has thirty days to build one. The Grief Algorithm is a psychological thriller about identity, grief, and the question the law isn't ready to answer: if someone weaponizes everything you are against you — is that murder?
