Online and Hybrid Learning: Design Fundamentals covers the basic tasks associated with the systematic design of online and hybrid learning environments. The contributors emphasize the importance of, and illustrate methods for, aligning learner assessments to learning objectives, and they present a framework for designing and sequencing meaningful e-learning interactions. This book discusses practical tools for preparing students for successful online learning, interprets laws, and provides examples of how online instruction can and should be universally designed for children with special needs.

Atsusi "2c" Hirumi is an Associate Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of Central Florida. Born in New York, Dr. Hirumi spent most of his formative years growing up in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa. He received his M.A. in Educational Technology from San Diego State University and his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University. He is also a frequent speaker at international, national and state conferences. Recent awards include the Texas Distance Learning Association award for commitment to excellent and innovation and the Star Faculty Award for outstanding teaching, research and service. He is the only two-time recipient of the WebCT exemplary online course award.
