The Grounding Wire: Dark Current (The Electrical Engineer Series Book 4)

The grid is not just vulnerable. It has become the weapon.

3:14 AM. The alarm isn't coming from the power station. It’s coming from Tesla Volt’s bedroom.

Twenty-three years after the Grid War, Gary Volt’s daughter discovers a signal hiding in the static of the Eastern Interconnection. It’s weak. It’s repeating. And it’s using the nation’s power infrastructure as a massive, untraceable transmitter.

The message is a countdown. Seventeen days until the entire grid shatters into millions of isolated fragments.

The attacker calls himself Prometheus. His manifesto promises a “Great Reset”—a forced collapse to save the planet. But when Gary traces the sabotage to a dead nuclear plant and a legendary engineer who refuses to die, he realizes the truth is far worse: this isn’t just an attack. It’s a surgical operation by someone who helped build the grid… and now knows exactly how to break it.

With his daughter Tesla, his chaos-theorist housemate Dirk, and a family that refuses to quit, Gary enters a race against the ultimate countdown. But in a war where every substation is a bullet and every relay is a trigger, stopping the attack means walking into the trap.

And the architect is waiting for him.

For readers of The Martian and Dark Wire, The Grounding Wire is a high-voltage thriller about resilience, legacy, and the invisible miracle that keeps the lights on.
