Guardian: The Rise of a Chinese Auction Company

Guardian The Rise of a Chinese Auction Company is a memoir written by Chen Dongsheng, chairman of the board of China Guardian, to record his experiences with the company at the time when it was celebrating its 20th anniversary. The narrative starts with his adolescent life in the countryside of Tianmen, Hubei Province, in Central China. He later entered Wuhan University, and began a totally new life. Twenty years have passed since then. China Guardian has become an industry leader and enjoys widespread renown in China and many other countries. During these 20 years, China Guardian has auctioned a large number of antiques and treasures. Its success in business has also promoted the development of culture and art in China. In the book, the author shares with the readers his experiences during these years, including amusing stories of collectors, anecdotes of great artists, and tales of cultural relics, as well as his thinking and views on culture, art, business and life.

Chen Dongsheng was born in 1957 in Tianmen, Hubei. He earned a doctorate in Economics from Wuhan University. Beginning in 1983, he worked for the International Trade Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Cooperation and Trade, where he remained until 1988.
