A long, long time ago, the tools to learn how to read and write were only available to very rich, very powerful people. People who could read and write used these skills to become even more rich and powerful - until the point in time where the tools to learn how to read and write became available to everyone. Literacy finally became possible for every man, woman and child, and literacy - the ability to read, write and comprehend - became the foundation of education and the key to engaging and thriving in society. We are now approaching a time where literacy will no longer be enough for us to live productive and successful lives. We need a new key to help us unlock the possibilities and opportunities that the new economy brings - the new key is data literacy. We don't all need to be experts in data, but we do all need to know how to read, write and comprehend data.
