The Guerrilla and the Green Beret: A Strategic Approach to a Difficult Marriage

The Guerrilla and the Green Beret is a handbook designed for those in difficult marriages who are committed to stay in the relationship. In its more than 300 strategies, it utilizes the metaphor of the skilled guerrilla warrior to fight for the marriage, based upon a biblical foundation and supported by wisdom from a variety of counseling and recovery resources.

JoAnn Shade ministered side-by-side with her husband Larry as Salvation Army officers (pastors and administrators) for 34 years. Following the completion and early days of operation of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland, Ohio, she retired in 2012 from the daily responsibilities of Salvation Army leadership. She has also been privileged to share in the lives of many couples through the Salvation Army and in the counseling offices at North Coast Family Foundation, a Christian counseling center in Northeast Ohio. With an M.A. in pastoral counseling and a D.Min. from Ashland Theological Seminary, she combines her academic training with a writer's eye, a pastor's heart and a grandmother's joy as she serves the body of Christ through Gracednotes Ministries.
