The tranquil, unspoiled countryside in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, attracts more than five million tourists a year. Its distinctively rural flavor offers visitors to Amish Country a glimpse of how life used to be.

This updated third edition of Guide to the Amish Country features addresses and descriptions of lodgings, restaurants, and museums, as well as an event calendar. Mr. Simpson recommends many sources for traditional local crafts and industries, such as quilt shops, antique stores, wineries, and farmers' markets. Other popular attractions include the world's largest pretzel bakery, the Strasburg RailRoad, Hershey, the People's Place Quilt Museum, the Amish Village, Dutch Wonderland, and Lancaster County's 29 covered bridges. Mr. Simpson also comprehensively explains Amish culture, beliefs, and etiquette.

Bill Simpson has lived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for most of his life. He is also the author of Weekend Getaways in Pennsylvania and Guide to Pennsylvania's Tourist Railroads, both published by Pelican.
