Probably the noted microbiologist and environmentalist of that name, discoverer of the antibiotic streptomycin, of whom, with his wife Vivian Rosenfeld, wikipedia notes: "enthusiastic naturalists and environmentalists and they enjoyed the wilds of Vermont". Military "Important Notice" pasted inside front cover. All eight folding maps present and appear always to have been correctly folded. Unobtrusive pencil underlining on a few leaves only.
