About the Author
Jennifer Kerr Budziak is a Chicago area conductor, author, mezzo-soprano, and composer, and is a frequent clinician in the area of musical formation, ritual and theology, and choral techniques at workshops nationwide. Dr. Budziak holds degrees in choral conducting from Northwestern University and Indiana University. Her ACS award-winning book Sowing Seeds, Bearing Fruit, a process for growing an engaged and singing assembly, was published in 2012. She is a co-author of Guide for Cantors and Guide for Music Ministers with Liturgy Training Publications, and she authored Sight-Sing a New Song (2005), a textbook on sight-singing and music notation for beginners, among other volumes on liturgy and music. Her compositions for adult and childrens choirs can be found in the catalogs of GIA Publications, World Library Publications, and Oregon Catholic Press. She has served on the Council of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and is a frequent presenter at the organizations regional and national conferences. Dr. Budziak has served on the faculties of North Central College, Concordia University, St. Xavier University, and the Catholic Theological Union. Christopher J. Ferraro is director of music at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Lindenhurst, New York. He also directs the Liturgical Music Institute at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York, and is a member of the diocesan liturgical commission for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He serves on the board of directors for the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions and is a member of the NPM Council. Chris holds masters degrees in theology and pastoral studies as well as an advanced certificate in pastoral liturgy from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York, and is certified as Director of Worship through the Alliance for the Certification for Lay Ecclesial Ministers. Corinna Laughlin is the pastoral assistant for liturgy at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, Washington, and liturgy consultant for the Archdiocese of Seattle. She has written extensively on the liturgy for Liturgy Training Publications, an agency of the Archdiocese of Chicago, and has contributed to Pastoral Liturgy®, Ministry and Liturgy, and other publications. She holds a doctorate in English from the University of Washington. Paul Turner is the pastor of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Missouri, and the director of the Office of Divine Worship for the Diocese of Kansas CitySt. Joseph. He holds a doctorate in sacred theology from SantAnselmo in Rome and is the author of many pastoral and theological resources. He serves as a facilitator for the International Commission on English in the Liturgy.
