Author Rose Houk specializes in natural history, history, archeology, and travel writing. She first came to the Southwest to work at Grand Canyon National Park in the late 1970s. She has written numerous publications for national parks and monuments, has been an editor at the National Wildlife Federation and the University of Arizona Press, and is a frequent contributor to Arizona Highways magazine. She is also the recipient of the Southwest Parks and Monuments Special Achievement Award. Rose lives in Flagstaff, Arizona.
