Book by Freeman, Val
Reviews:
This useful guide to quilted applique is appropriate for readers of all levels of expertise. Step-by-step instructions are provided for various techniques, including hand and machine applique and quilting, and "quilt-as-you-go," where machine applique and quilting are attempted simultaneously. There also are accompanying colorful photos and clearly labeled diagrams and illustrations. British needleworker Freeman's enthusiasm will inspire the reader to attempt the numerous projects presented here, such as a cushion, Christmas wallhangings, frog quilt, loose flower motifs for a quilted jacket and a quilt that can be made in one day. She provides answers to frequently asked questions regarding fabric color, preparation and storage, quilting hoop, wadding, batting and thread. The origin and evolution of this ancient art form also is explained. Readers undoubtedly will gain from Freeman's experience and love of this craft. Better Homes and Gardens Crafts Club selection.
