Lowell Ackerman is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist with practices in Mesa and Phoenix, Arizona, and Thornhill, Ontario. He has served on both Education and research committees for the American College of Veterinary Dermatology ant Cornell University, Texas A&M University, Louisiana State University, and Mississippi State University, and at private clinics in Dallas, Boston, and Cincinnati.

A prolific writer, Ackerman has authored several veterinary and dermatology texts, and published over one-hundred, twenty articles in various professional journals and periodicals.

He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Royal college of Veterinary Surgeons, The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, former president of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology and a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology.
