Guide to Underground Rome/ Guida Di Roma Sotterranea: From Cloaca Massima to Domus Aurea: The Most Fascinating Underground Sites of the Capital (Engli

A photographer who is trained in archaeology and classical history, Carlo Pavia is exceptionally well suited for presenting a guide to the world that lies beneath modern Rome. Bilingual in Italian and (very well translated) English, this book takes readers on a journey to see the temples, tombs, theaters, baths, churches, and catacombs in this subterranean world, matching Pavia's descriptions with hundreds of color photographs. The book also contains a map of underground Rome, as well as plans for many of its structures. Especially for readers who will never travel to Rome, this book is almost as good as being there.)
