Bob Iles has been a medical writer, editor and teacher of medical writing since 1965. With undergraduate and master's degrees in English literature and an interest in medicine, he found that his skills were wanted by physicians and other researchers who had little time or inclination to write reports of their studies. Bob learned why's of preparing manuscripts for journals and books on the job, with experience his rigorous teacher and other writers, physicians and researchers his guides. Bob feels he has "learned 90 percent of the right ways to do things and made 90 percent of the errors" in medical writing. His book is a distillation of what he has learned. In 1995 he also began to write mystery stories and has had 13 published.
