Contains Appendix, Critique Form This handbook concentrates on the leadership of people, not management of money or material. Chapter 1 provides new commanders with some insight into their duties and responsibilities. Chapter 2 provides some tried-and-true guidelines for dealing with people. Chapters 3 and 4 contain the main body of the handbook: policies and procedures that a commander can use to motivate and assist military personnel, as well as methods for dealing with military personnel who do not comply with Air Force standards. Chapter 4 contains basically the same information as it applies to civilian employees. Chapter 5 discusses some of the base activities and agencies that can be helpful to supervisors. Chapter 6 provides methods and concepts for evaluating unit performance; an inspection guide provides some insights on getting the mission done through the development of highly professional people.
