Gum Stand Gumption: A Base Five Book (Base Ten Buddies)

Students who struggle with multi-digit arithmetic often lack key base ten place value understanding. Rhyme and illustration bring place value to real life in this picture book designed for teachers and learners. This book features illustrated models of base five place value in the form of packages of gum. Learning other bases can help students better grasp our base ten system by having something to compare it to. Follow along with the book, or use the ideas in back, and get learners "packaging" their own gum. A springboard for math tasks in the classroom or at home, this book can be a great tool for teachers and students alike.
